The New India Assurance Yuva Bharat Health Policy Platinum is an upgraded version of the Gold plan, offering additional benefits that cater to families with specific needs. Its maternity coverage, infertility treatment, pre-term/premature birth coverage, and vaccination charges, make it a suitable choice for newly married couples or families planning to expand. The plan also includes critical illness benefits, personal accident cover, air ambulance services, and an auto top-up feature, enhancing financial security during emergencies.

Despite being an upgrade, the Platinum plan retains several drawbacks from its lower variants. It offers only partial coverage for modern treatments and genetic disorders, which may not suffice for those requiring advanced medical care. The restoration of the sum insured is available only once per year for different ailments, which may not be adequate for multiple claims. Additionally, the modest loyalty bonus, from 25% to 100%, and room rent restrictions are also retained, limiting flexibility during hospitalization.

Pros

Insurer has a solid track record with great claim and service metrics.

Offers Extended Coverage, which makes this policy stand out.

Cons

Not very feature-rich.

No coverage if you are forced to hospitalize at home, which is a notable gap.

Doctor consultations are not covered, which could be a drawback for some.

Maternity

STANDOUT

The insurer will also cover expenses related to maternity— Think hospitalization expenses incurred while giving birth. But they’ll only pay upto ₹25,000 and make you wait 2 years before covering this expense. Also, you’ll only get the benefits if both, you and your spouse are enrolled in a single-family floater plan.

Extended Coverage

STANDOUT

Provides an extended scope of coverage up to specified amounts in terms of Critical Care, Personal accident cover, ambulance and Auto Top-up benefit (up to 10% of base sum insured), Maternity cover, infertility treatment cover, pre-mature baby cover and many more.

Co-payment

The insurer will bear the entire cost of treatment (up to the sum insured). You won’t have to pay a single penny. Meaning this policy has no co-payment.

Room Rent

You can share a room or you could have a single room for yourself. But if you are looking for anything slightly fancy, be ready to foot a part of the bill.

Disease sub-limit

Your insurance cover won’t be fully available in case you are treated for Genetic disorders, modern treatments and a few other diseases. Meaning the insurance company has a cap on the total amount they’ll pay out if you are treated for these specific illnesses.

Permanent Exclusions

Conditions or treatments that the policy clearly says it will not cover.

Convalescence and General debility.

Expenses incurred for Rotational Field Quantum Magnetic Resonance (RFQMR),
