Rider

Add-ons you can tag along with your insurance policy to obtain coverage beyond what’s usually available in the base policy. These add-ons could include inflation protection, added cover for consumables, daily hospital cash, etc. In insurance, a rider is an optional add-on feature that can be attached to an existing insurance policy to provide additional coverage or benefits.

For example, a rider provides additional coverage for accidental death or disability, or it may provide accelerated benefits in case of a critical illness. In the context of a health insurance policy, a coverage for maternity expenses or outpatient treatment, which may not be covered under the base policy.

Some common types of riders that are available in insurance include accidental death and dismemberment rider, waiver of premium rider, Accidental Death Benefit Rider, Terminal Illness rider, etc.

It's important to read the policy documents carefully to understand the terms and conditions of the rider and any exclusions or limitations that may apply. The premium for the rider may vary depending on the type and extent of coverage provided, and it's important to evaluate the cost and benefits of the rider before making a decision.
