Accumulation Period
The accumulation period in health insurance refers to the amount of time that a policyholder must incur medical expenses in order to meet their policy's deductible. In other words, it is the time after which the insurance policy begins to pay for covered medical expenses.
During the accumulation period, the policyholder is typically responsible for paying all medical expenses out of pocket until they reach the policy's deductible amount. Once the deductible has been met, the insurance company will begin paying for covered medical expenses, subject to copayments, coinsurance, and other terms and conditions of the policy.
The length of the accumulation period can vary depending on the policy and the insurer. Some policies may have an accumulation period of a few months, while others may have a longer accumulation period of several months to a year
