Overview

The Digit Worldwide Treatment Plan offers comprehensive coverage that extends beyond geographical boundaries. As the name suggests, it covers inpatient hospitalization, daycare procedures, pre- and post-hospitalization, road ambulance, and psychiatric illnesses, not just in India but worldwide. Plus, it includes organ donor expenses and a health check-up benefit at the end of every continuous policy year, without impacting your sum insured.

The big selling point here is right in the name: "Worldwide." This plan gives you access to medical treatment across the globe. If you're someone who travels frequently or wants the option to seek the best medical care internationally, this is a major advantage.

Also, the Worldwide Treatment policy extends coverage for planned and emergency hospitalizations abroad. At the same time, it offers a personal accident benefit with a lump sum of ₹1,00,000 paid out in the event the policyholder passes away in an accident. The Worldwide Treatment plan also comes with a bonus that increases your coverage by 50% every year, which can grow up to 100% of the original sum insured.

It is, however, important to note that Digit is a relatively new player in the health insurance market with limited metrics supporting its track record. While this does not indicate buying a policy from the insurer is a bad choice, it is something critical to consider before buying a policy.

Pros

Feature set is satisfactory.

Premiums are relatively well priced.

Insurer has a solid track record with great claim and service metrics.

Cons

Maternity benefits not offered, which is a notable gap.

Doctor consultations are not covered, which could be a drawback for some.

Features

Co-payment

The insurer will bear the entire cost of treatment (up to the sum insured). You won’t have to pay a single penny. Meaning this policy has no co-payment.

Room Rent

Shared room, single room, deluxe room or any room that’s available. The insurer won’t nitpick on your choice of room since the policy has no restrictions on room rent.

Disease sub-limit

No funny business here. If your insurer hasn’t explicitly stated they won’t cover a certain illness, you can claim the full amount up to the sum insured, irrespective of the disease you’re dealing with. Meaning this policy doesn't impose the dreaded disease wise sub-limits.

Pre existing diseases waiting

If you’re already dealing with diabetes, cardiovascular problems or any such illnesses, the insurer will cover all costs arising out of these pre-existing problems after you wait for 3 years.

Pre/Post hospitalization

No worries if the doctor had to run a host of diagnostic tests before or after hospitalizing you. The insurer has your back. They will cover this amount in full for a pretty reasonable duration - 60 days before you are hospitalized and 180 days after discharge. This includes the cost of medication by the way.
